Abstract
To investigate the hypertensive prevention, two novel condensed tannin compounds were isolated from Korean Camellia sinensis L. and their chemical structures were identified as B-2,3-O-gallate and prodelphinidin B-2,3,3¢¥-O-digallate by mechanical analysis. In the inhibitory effect of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), it showed that the B-ring of the gallyol or gallate compound in prodelphinidins increased the inhibitory effect of the enzyme. Prodelphinidin B-2,3,3¢¥-O-digallate inhibited about 84% at 50 ¥ìmole and showed a possibility to be used in functional food and pharmaceutical industries.
